¿Quién es Francisco Borja Llano Rodriguez?

I am a draughtsman 34-year-old designer. I live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, locality situated in Canary Islands (Spain), 7 precious target islands of many European tourists. I consider myself as a sample of the draughtsmen (anonymous in the majority of times) that work for architects and put their creativity and knowledge to the service of them through their works, in my case with the Artlantis.

Soy delineante proyectista de 34 años. Vivo en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, localidad que se encuentra en las Islas Canarias (España), 7 islas preciosas destino  de muchos turistas europeos. Me considero una muestra de los delineantes (anónimos en la mayoría de las ocasiones) que trabajan para arquitectos y ponen su creatividad y conocimientos al servicio de estos a través de sus trabajos, en mi caso con el Artlantis.

What do you do in daily life?

¿Qué haces en tu día a día?

I am employed at a study of architecture for 16 years and though it is there where I carry out the majority of the works with Artlantis, I also work in projects for other architects and promoters who bet for my work. After being employed at the study of architecture I make particular works with Artlantis or penetrate into the topics that are more interesting to me to evolve with the Artlantis Studio.

Trabajo en un estudio de arquitectura desde hace 16 años y aunque es ahí donde realizo la mayoría de los trabajos con Artlantis, también realizo proyectos para otros arquitectos y promotores que apuestan por mi trabajo. Después de trabajar en el estudio de arquitectura realizo trabajos particulares con Artlantis o profundizo en los temas que me resultan más interesantes para evolucionar con el Artlantis Studio.

I dedicate a little free time that I still have to enjoy the sea, my great passion. I practise surf for 18 years and I escape to the sea whenever I have the opportunity, it is my route of leak. Even when I am in the water, I often think about the Artlantis, not as obsession, but about the process of work or about some ideas that come to me spontaneously. I suppose that something similar happens to all.

Dedico el poco tiempo libre que me queda para disfrutar del mar, mi gran pasión. Practico surf desde hace 18 años y siempre que puedo me escapo a la playa, es mi vía de escape. En realidad, incluso cuando estoy en el agua, muchas veces pienso en el Artlantis, no como obsesión, sino en el proceso de trabajo o en algunas ideas que me surgen espontáneamente. Supongo que a todos nos pasa algo parecido.

How did you come involved in ArtLantis?

¿Qué te llevó  a conocer y trabajar con ArtLantis?

During my studies I used the Autocad 12 for the projection of planes, but thanks to a teacher of practices, we started using the Archicad and the contact with Artlantis was immediate.

Durante mis estudios se utilizaba para la proyección de planos el Autocad 12, pero gracias a un profesor de prácticas, se empezó a usar el  Archicad y el contacto con Artlantis fue inmediato.

What did you experience while learning Artlantis?

¿Qué experimentaste mientras aprendías?

It was a "shock", to be able to apply in real time textures, lights, objects with supreme facility. Though when I began with Artlantis 3.0, the differences with the program most extended up to this moment in the accomplishment of render (3D Studio Max) were notable, as the years went by this distance has stood out up to the point that already is difficult to notice differences between both programs with the render of major quality.

In addition, the dynamic use of Archicad and Artlantis facilitates to me the work very much and there was not difficult to make the architects see the need to invest in these programs at the cost of that they were using for then, in my opinion the Autocad program is anchored in his development.

Fue un "shock", poder aplicar en tiempo real texturas, luces, objetos con suma facilidad. Si bien cuando empecé con Artlantis 3.0, las diferencias con el programa más extendido hasta ese momento en la realización de render (3D Studio Max) eran notables, con el paso de los años esa distancia se ha recortado hasta el punto que ya es difícil notar  diferencias entre ambos programas con los render de mayor calidad.

Además, el uso dinámico entre Archicad y Artlantis me facilita mucho el trabajo y no fue difícil hacerles ver a los arquitectos la necesidad de invertir en estos programas a costa del que usaban por entonces, el Autocad, programa que para mi está anclado en su desarrollo.

¿Tienes alguna especialidad?

I make habitually works of building and civil work. I really enjoy the architecture and I have been lucky to work with an architect who trusts in my work and allows me to be a part of a project.

Realizo habitualmente trabajos de edificación y obra civil. Realmente disfruto de la arquitectura y he tenido la suerte de trabajar con un arquitecto que confía en mi trabajo y me permite ser parte de un proyecto.

Is there a special project you are proud of and can you tell us about it?

¿Hay algún proyecto del que te sientas orgulloso y que puedas contarnos?

I am really proud of the works that I have made and in all there is something that makes them different to the others. A different perspective, an original section, a photomontage ... always there is something special to keep with. Probably for the quantity and variety, would stand out the collection of traffic signals that are to the sale, so much those that I have separately as the ones that I sell together with Artlantisobjects with the collection of 653 traffic signals.

Estoy realmente orgulloso de los trabajos que he realizado y en todos hay algo que los hace diferente a los demás. Una perspectiva diferente, una sección original, un foto-montaje... siempre hay algo especial con lo que quedarse. Quizás por la cantidad y variedad, destacaría la colección de señales de tráfico que están a la venta, tanto las que tengo por separado como las que vendo junto a Artlantisobjects con la colección de 653 señales de tráfico.

Can you reveal for us your main workflow to achieve the results you always show ?

¿Podrías revelarnos el proceso de trabajo que te lleva a lograr los resultados que siempre muestras?

Los encargos llegan a mí normalmente en ficheros .dwg, contacto con el arquitecto o promotor para ver las calidades del proyecto y las características más importantes de este. A continuación, elaboro la maqueta del proyecto en Archicad y posteriormente lo exporto a Artlantis. Antes de empezar a aplicar luces y texturas envío al promotor las vistas que en mi opinión resultan más atractivas y una vez se elijen procedo a la fase de trabajo a fondo con Artlantis. Como paso final realizo los retoques que sean necesarios en Photoshop aunque intento tocar las imágenes lo menos posible una vez están realizadas en Artlantis.

I have just finished a web page in which I show part of my work with Artlantis Studio. I am useful to encourage the colleagues to read this interview and I invite them to enter in www.info2l.es and to comment in the section of contact, it will be nice to know their opinion. Soon I will create new objects to put them in the web, I have some ideas but I do not want to reveal anything even. I am also going to penetrate into the edition of video but you will see it in a nearby future. I wait to continue evolving in the Render with the new Artlantis Studio 3.

Acabo de terminar una página web en la que mostrar parte de mi trabajo con Artlantis Studio. Aprovecho para animar a los compañeros que lean esta entrevista a que entren en www.info2l.es y que los comenten  en la sección de contacto, será muy agradable conocer su opinión.

Próximamente realizaré nuevos objetos para subir a la web, tengo algunas ideas pero no quiero desvelar nada aun. También voy a profundizar en la edición de video pero eso lo veréis en un futuro cercano. Espero seguir evolucionando en los Render con el nuevo Artlantis Studio 3.

¿Qué piensas de Artlantisobjects.com?

It is undoubtedly some the best point of users' meeting of Artlantis that exists in Internet. It has a very complete content and a great variety of sections. One sees that the evolution of the web is constant and it is grateful. Its renewed image of the year 2009 is a success and certainly I encourage to all their components to continue developing this good work. For my part I am very satisfied to belong to this community. Go on this way.

Es sin duda alguna el mejor punto de encuentro de usuarios de Artlantis que existe en Internet. Tiene un contenido completísimo y una gran variedad de secciones. Se ve que la evolución de la Web es constante y eso se agradece. Su imagen renovada del año 2009 es un acierto y desde luego animo a todos sus componentes a seguir realizando este buen trabajo.
